Default ture or false

ok i traded that subaru i have for a 1g dsm a
92 plymouth laser non turbo (4g63 2.0)

and the car will NOT idle but will run fine until it trys to idle then it will die

i was told it was the mass air flow sensor

so i need a new one but a friend of mine told that a mustang or a camaro m.a.s can be wired up and work and it will add a little power

so if anyone could tell me if this is true and where to find how to do it

or fine if its not true

and i have little time to look

i will love them

five things.

1. I think I have the old MAF from my Talon somewhere, I'll sell it to you.

2. Make sure it isn't actually the Idle Speed Control solenoid. Those tend to go shitty, my old one went shitty as well. It is easy to check, it is on the intake manifold near the throttle plate. Unplug it and see if anything changes. If it idles worse then it wasn't the solenoid.

3. The common MAF that is wired up to a DSM and adds power is the 3" GM MAF sensor, but it requires a signal converter box which costs about $200 last I checked, on top of the MAF sensor and the entirely new intake pipe you would have to get in order to run it. That mod is more common in turbo engines because it has a higher airflow rate than the stock 1g or 2g MAFs do (which is where the horsepower comes from) and a n/a engine wouldn't see the same power increase.

4. It could be your injectors not providing the correct fuel flow at idle, maybe run some injector cleaner through.

5. It could also possibly be the idle switch isn't engaging or is unplugged. On the throttle body there is a single wire plugged to the plate near the throttle pulley. Check that the wire isn't frayed or disconnected, your car might not know the throttle plate is closed and thus dumping fuel and bogging the engine.

If you want to go turbo I have full valve train, turbo, exhaust manifold, pistons and rods, coolant tube and lines and I have the crank though the bolts for the flywheel are seized to the crank so that is sitting in the block in my back yard and might not be usable anymore. The only things I don't have are the oil lines, wastegate actuator for the turbo and the fuel injectors. You are more than welcome to buy what you need, they are all just sitting around in my house.

It would be easier yes but not necessarily cheaper. I will sell you the turbo for 80, cams and head for 100, pistons and rods for 75, manifold for 50, or everything I have for a turbo swap for 300. I also have an extra starter, alternator, power steering pump, cam sensor, and various other components. I just don't have intake tubing or the stock intercooler
