Civic? As the worst drive train ever? Come on you guys can do better than that.

How about the 165HP 1975 corvette. You can get a civic with a lot more power than that.

...and what about all those 4 cylinder Mustangs that were made?

The mid to late 70's were full of absolutely awful drive trains from a performance and reliability standpoint.

The question that comes to my mind is by what basis are we claiming "worst", because I could argue against both of you and claim the Civic has one of the better engines and drivetrains out there depending on how you are deciding.

I agree on this one! BUT, I think the Camaro Birlinetta (sp?) with the 2.5 was worse.

Ok ok, I will withdraw my previous statement about the Civic. I'll go ahead and say the Chevette. They're so bad that I am partially embarrassed that my dad's car shares the same nickname, vette.

I drove a Chevette once. If I took a hard corner at full throttle it would bark the tires going into second. For some reason this fascinated me and I couldn't get enough of it. I had a lot of fun during that drive. It excelled over my expectations so therefor I don't think it deserves to be in the list.

What I feel the criteria should be based on to decide the "worst drive train" should be:

Worst performance for a car of it's type and/or worst reliability.

I've never known anyone who has owned a Yugo, but considering how few of them were on the roads just a couple years after they stopped selling them in the US... I'd say they probably weren't very reliable.

the only civic that sucked was the ones with the non vtec engines

other then that there is still alot of older civic on the road that run really good

compared to some of the other auto makers

naawww the civic isn't on there.. i think the civic is the worst.. its got a weak engine and its no fun to drive... its like driving a lunchbox.. i think the prius comes in second place.... they are good for one thing.. saving gas.. and actually the 4 cylinder mustangs were pretty powerful with few mods.. they were good too.. YouTube - Turbo 4-cylinder Mustang
