The lsx series engines are some of the best and most potent engines ever produced. Ford neads to take some notes. The 4.6 2v is one of the worst engines ever made. It doesn't respond to mods well and is a turd. Yeah it can handle 450hp, but it takes ALOT to get there. Actually, you can't even get there withought some spray or forced induction.

I really don't like the non-modular engines.. they're too drag racy. Yes the LSx engines are excellent, I drive a LS6 powered car on a regular basis. Having said that, I'll defend my own car. The 4.6L 2V isn't that bad. LSx engines all have 2V/cylinder. The 4.6L responds extremely well to tunes and boost, as well as gearing. As far as natural aspiration goes, you should join Mustangforums.com and look at the 4.6 section. There are guys running low 12s without forced induction or nitrous, and with a 2V. Forced induction just happens to be the easiest way to get big numbers. As far as the 4V 4.6s go.. those things are some of the best out there. The 03-04 SVT Cobra, in my opinion, was the best Mustang ever made. Yes, it has a supercharger, but LSx guys are scared of it. I quote from LS1tech.com, "No biggie, they can't be beaten anyway." here's the link:

My point is.. do the right stuff.. and a 4.6L can get a lot of nice kills on the streets.
