Believe me, I'm loyal to Mustangs, but the Z06 is not a car to mess around with. It's relatively lightweight, and its suspension is tuned incredibly well... Not to mention the ridiculous acceleration, that yes the Ford would probably match, but still.

ford is improving their engines... the new stang for example will have 15 more HP and 25 more torque... so it will have 315HP and 325 torque... and the ford GT is wicked.. thats a good engine built by ford... they could whoop a z06 in the Ford GTX1 :-)

The ford GT just has a 5.4 built up and supercharged. Not that impressive. Basically the same thing in the GT500's. What IS impressive is GM's lsx motors. I would love to stick an ls1 into my fox.
Lets just face it. Ford sucks. Their engines suck. I have a mustang, but I only like mustangs. Fords in general blow. Nothing good about them. I only like my mustang because it is cheap to mod and it's simple and lightweight. And to the guy that said a 302 wont make torque... try searching hp numbers for stroked 302's. You would be suprised at the power they make. A naturally aspirated 347 with high compression and a healthy cam will make awesome numbers. Most guys that aren't satisfied with the little 302's will just go with a 351 and stroke it to a 408 and make 500hp NA easy.

see now those are some nice engines.. but NEVER put a chevy engine in a FORD car...that is just terrible... then just buy a chevy... the LSX are nice but i still like ford better.... the only GM cars i would buy are the GTO's and the 68 firebirds... i like pontiac... for the most part i like muscle... i think dodges new challenger is better... 425HP hemi... now those are certainly nice... i still love the mustang... and i think that if ford actually put some engineering skill into their engines and stop with making it look incredible then we would be good... ford has so much capability... but ford trucks will always beat chevy...

LSx engines make more power because they have much higher displacement. The 4V 4.6 modular engines aren't that bad.. especially the aluminator with forged internals. Ford makes a mean truck and a pretty good muscle car. GM makes tons of impressive examples all over the line, but I wouldn't go as far as to say because Ford hasn't made a ground-breaking sedan, or car for the common man, it sucks. LSx engines are great, don't get me wrong. They're really torquey and their power band is impressive. Having said that, the 4.6 is awesomely raw. Yeah mine can only handle about 450rwhp.. but it's still badass, and that number will still beat up on most camaros and GTOs encountered on the streets.

You are talking HP not TQ! You will not get big TQ numbers from 302 cubes however a 351 taken out to a 408 will make good TQ and HP numbers.

They make more torque than hp. a stock 302 makes around 220hp and 275tq to the wheels.

It doesn't even matter. Brands don't matter. If it's fast, it's fast.

lol well ya that is normal, look at 90% of dyne sheets and you will see they make more TQ than HP. You need to TQ to move the mass, HP just keeps the mass moving. If you are going for top end you will see these numbers flip like in a salt flat car that requires a push just to get it moving.

Ok then lets compare the 351w and an lsx. roughly same displacement except the ls7. The ls2 makes 350ish stock and with just a cam it will make over 400hp. A 351w will NOT make that with just a cam. The lsx series engines are some of the best and most potent engines ever produced. Ford neads to take some notes. The 4.6 2v is one of the worst engines ever made. It doesn't respond to mods well and is a turd. Yeah it can handle 450hp, but it takes ALOT to get there. Actually, you can't even get there withought some spray or forced induction.
