I've always been more a fan of the "run what you brung" type of street racing. That way if you have your engine tuned to run with nitrous or methanol you aren't sacrificing your car's ability to run properly just because someone who doesn't have a nitrous system is a sissy and doesn't want to lose or pull more power from their engine. There is a point where engine work alone doesn't bring much more as far as power and the only way to get more is through something like NOS, I don't see that as a cheap trick. If someone wants to risk blowing their engine up with a 150shot of nitrous, let them have it.

Olds engines are slow? Didnt know that. How rude. As for your 700 hp pulling truck, when did you install a Cummins?

Check the belt tensioners, especially check the tension the Alternator is putting on the belt, it might have slipped back a bit and giving the belt too much slack. Also check the belt itself, it might be cracked or possibly even a little stretched from contracting so much this past winter. Good old Iowa winters do wonders like that.

That is about the same as saying a ocean liner has 40000HP, or a train has 15000HP, the HP is all used up trying to move 4 tons of weight and overcome the wind resistance of a brick.

There is usually 2 reasons belts fly off! 1= belt is too loose or 2=the belt is not aligned straight and walks off under higher RPM. If it is loose enough to come off you should be able to see it flopping around, if it is out of allignement you sometimes can not see it unless you look for it.

well its a new belt and i have tried diff tensions on it and got no where

and alternator belt belt doesn't come off

i am completely stumped

it doesn't make sense

and today im going to try and a shorter belt that goes from the main crank pulley to the power steering pump and not the ac because the retards that had the car before unplugged the lines

thanks for your ideas

Well yes actually it would,, If you were trying to push it you would be able to push it a lot faster without the extra weight!

however if you were to pull the same heavy engine out of your car and put in on your skateboard your skateboard would be faster than your car was with the same engine.

Sounds like someone is a litte niave. I go by the run what you brung, and if you didn't bring enough you better go home and find some more. When you race me there won't be any rules. If you don't like the no rules clause I will probably determine that you are too scared to race me then. With all the neat little gadgets and hiding places now on the market you wont know if I am running NOS or not. In the real world the rules you see on Pinks do not apply!!

Nicely put! I am pretty sure the Cummins is the first performance upgrade recommended for a Ford!
