Autocross tips
So this weekend our local Corvette club puts on it's annual autocross. I know some of the guys on here are experienced autocrossers, so I was hoping for a few tips.

Autocross tips
Rule #1: Use someone elses car!
Rule#2: Have fun!
Rule#3: Try not to hit any cones.
Rule#4: Most importantly, dont hit the timing lights! ( unless your name is Phil )
My only experiences with autoocross I followed rule #2 and 4. Still looking forward to doing it again sometime soon. Good luck!

When I went everyone told me go slow to go fast. The better you setup for turns the less likely you are to screw up, so take it easy if its your first time. Oh and make sure you get there early so you can walk the track before the racing starts.

Your more than welcome to come over and help Matt, but you will have to pick a different job!! Supervising is already taken by me! And, yes there will be beer, actually you can try my homemade beer!

Thats the problem with this world, too many cheifs and not enough indians! I guess if you and I are supervising we just need more indians to do the work! Are you going to make it to opening weekend at the dragstrip? Im pretty sure Im not going to have the 69 ready!

Why do I have this funny feeling I will be the only one doing work and being supervised by a bunch of drunks bench racing? I think we are going to try and work on it Tues or Thur Brian said. I will give you a call and let you know.
Speaking of racing!!!!! Ask HOUSE how fast a Neon SRT-4 is Compared to a Z28. We went out last night and there were actually people out. Was not a good night for the Z28. LOLOL

Did house get waxed by a neon?! Hang your head in shame! I have GOT to get the Olds back on the road! Maybe after we get Brians GN back together we will have to have a wrenching marathon on the Cutlass. Just no beer, it has to look good while everyone is SOBER (no beer goggles)

There was a Neon actually! Looked like it had been rolled or something!
I decided NOT to drive the Jag through the course (I did last year and killed off my Pirelli's). I drove my buddy's RX8 and his dad's rented Corvette "ZHZ" from Hertz. It was a lot of fun. I actually did better in the RX8, as the Vette got me into a little trouble. Extremely fun to drive though! I'll have pics up by the end of the day.

Autocross is a form of motorsports that emphasizes safe competition and active participation. An autocross is a timed competition where drivers navigate one at a time through a temporary course marked by traffic cones, rather than racing on a track with multiple other cars, as in road racing or oval racing. Autocross tends to place more emphasis on car handling and driver skill than on sheer horsepower, and events typically have many classes which allow almost any vehicle, from economy sedans to purpose-built vehicles, to compete. Speeds are slower in absolute terms when compared to other forms of motorsports, usually not exceeding highway speeds, but the activity level (measured in discrete turns per minute) can be higher than even Formula One due to the large number of elements packed into each course.
