I think that car looks pretty good in red. I'm also glad to see there is a more powerful engine in there. The French motor that was in there was way to underpowered for a sports car like the DMC12, though I think a Chevy crate motor is too much weight over the rear wheels. I remember seeing a DMC12 with a 3-rotor Wankle and that had quite a bit of power, not to mention it's a much lighter engine.

but see painting a DeLorean and Putting a GM engine in it. it ruins the whole purpose of the DeLorean.
ok so this is why I say this. When John left GM and started up DMC GM did not want John to succeed. so they did everything in their power to stop him. So why would you put the heart of the DeLoreans enemy in the DeLorean. and then Paint Stainless steel.
thats just my thought.

I would consider owning one some day, but I wouldn't drive it much without a drivetrain swap and some suspension work. That French motor isn't known for reliability, which is actually well demonstrated in the movie that made the car famous, Back to the Future, when the car would always stall out and refuse to start. Plus in anticipation of potential laws regarding minimum vehicle heights that Delorean responded to but the laws never really came into effect, the center of gravity in those vehicles are too high for really spirited driving, even though they offered subsequent height adjustment options after the law fell through. I'd buy one, swap in a Porsche engine and transaxle, then tune the suspension to counteract snap oversteer before I'd drive a Delorean.
And I'd probably end up painting it too, to be honest. Stainless steel is cool, but I'm not a fan of the idea of breaking out the steel wool to clean it. It's a very unique look, but I like a good creative paint job too.

Porsche engine... go for it as long as nothing you put on it comes from GM.

I like GM, I like American muscle, but I don't like the idea of 800 lbs of american muscle hanging off the arse of a two seater, rear engine sports car, way too much weight over the rear. Great for doing wheelies though.
