yes, but bikes can't turn nearly as fast.

Well that was a pretty close race, and to tell you the truth, it looks like the Yamaha made some errors in the corners. There are also other factors to consider like aerodynamic drag, driver fatigue and comfort, etc.

Oh yeah no doubt, but traditionally, cars are faster around decent sized tracks. Don't get me wrong, for the most part I'm not a bike fan, but those Ducatis are awesome. Matrix Reloaded anyone?

yeah Ducati's are pretty much awesome... but the Super-Busa is AMAZING!!! the thing is OVER-POWERED. and i would usually NEVER say the term over-powered EVER... but the thing has a power to weight ratio better than ANYTHING ive ever seen...

First off, let's set the record straight. The Hayabusa is the fastest top speed production bike. Most of that is attributed to the fact that it is aerodynamically flawless. Does anyone remember the ZX-12 from Kawi? It was originally named "Project 200" as in mph. When they finished wind tunnel testing they had a bike that was almost a carbon copy of the Busa. They decided that the bike was too ugly. Hence the classic Kawi styling. It was also kept from the american public By our own legislators because the originally proposed model ended up "too fast" for american roads. So Kawi took it back to testing and detuned the engine that was powering the imperfect body to the same speeds the Busa was reaching so that it was no longer too fast and could be sold on the US market. Neither of these bikes does you any good unless you're drag racing or trying to set land speed records. They are too big and docile to hit the corners with. A 600 would embarrass either on a road course. I would have to say that the best all around bike would be the GSX-R 750. Simply because you get most of the power you would from a 1000 in the nimble frame of a 600. But that's just the opinion of someone that is taking into consideration power-to-weight, inertia, center of gravity, weight distribution, rider positioning and all the other subjects that are studied when testing/developing these street machines. If you want to go fast in a straight line, get a bike over 1000cc's. If you actually want to ride the thing get one 1000 or under

Almost forgot, A buddy of mine has a ZX-6 that is tuned to run with a 900. His Dad's 96ci soft tail will outrun him in a straight line. The ZX-6 only has an advantage in the corners. And not by much. So go ahead and keep on thinking that Harleys are slow and under powered. Why is it that people are all about american cars, but not american bikes?

cuz american bikes are generally choppers which have the un-deserved stereotype of being horrible at turning... so therefore people go for japanese bikes which are also generally cheaper...
