Actually it has became pretty common for 1000HP street car. I know of 3 around here, 2 are C6 corvettes and 1 is a twin turbo Camaro. If you have the $$$ and a lot of boost it is not all that hard to reach the numbers now with the technology advancements in Turbo's and SC's backed with fuel injection.

The problem is 1000HP is almost impossible to use on the street and on the track unless it has been back halfed and it does take major $$ to build the assembly to hold together.

We had a guy that drove a 55 chevy around here on the street that was close to 3000 HP. It was a pro mod car with lights and plates.

He built another car (new chassis and body) and was able to salvage all teh drivetrain. This car is NOTHING like the old one. We put the Texas Twister decals on it and it was still the flat black that the body comes. He also did not put all the light and such in the new one. He said he was not going to drive this one on the street and if he ever did it was getting a 3K rev limiter placed on it. Truth be known I imagine his insurance company told him he would not be driving it on the street anymore after paying for the new telephone poles and all the people that were outof power.
