The Volt is a great idea, but the power infrastructure simply isn't made for it. Everyone's electric bills will be super high!

The green movement tends to really annoy me (i.e. Oregon Gov. proposing a bill to ban aftermarket car parts, including tires). It's all so played up, and sometimes I just want to go into politics to shut everyone up about this. Anyways.. that's my 2 cents.

I have a feeling this is going to be a BIG problem child for GM. This car was originally not scheduled for release for another 2 to 3 years before they went to congress to ask for bail out money. They have been rushing this car into production hoping it will "save" them and show the goverment they are doing their part to pull themselves out of the hole they are in.

GM has tried this before and it has ALWAYS come back to bite them with problems out in the field. They will rush the car to the customers without doing all the testing and long term durability analysis that they will not have time to do. I would not even consider buying the first couple years of the car until they have had time to work all the bugs out and it is proven to be a decent car.

It will be interesting to see the final sticker price once they hit the lots to see how many years you will have to own the car to pay for the extra cost of it being a Hybrid. This is one of the problems with the Prius and other hybrids, they cost more than the standard model and it took years to recoop the cost savings in fuel between the base model and the hybrid model.
