Default 2009 Cadillac CTS-V

GM reports that it's 550HP 2009 Cadillac CTS-V posted a 7:59.32 on the Nurburgring and claims to be the fastest ever publicly documented for a production sedan.

I found a better list of Nurburgring times for comparison here.

"We thought Bentley's announcement earlier today that it's adding a Speed model to the Continental Flying Spur lineup was exciting news for sedan fans. After all, a 600bhp saloon that can hit 60 mph in 4.5 seconds and reach 200 MPH is pretty exciting, no? Not really when compared to Cadillac's news that the 2009 CTS-V will officially be rated at 556 horsepower, hit 60 mph in 3.5 seconds and run the quarter mile in 12 seconds flat. No offense to Bentley, but a sub-3-second sedan is about as exciting as it can get on a Monday. For the record, the Edmunds' Straightline Blog reports that the sport sedan's 6.2L supercharged V8 will produce 556 hp at 6,100 rpm and 551 pound-feet of torque at 3,800 rpm. That engine is the LSA, derived from the new Corvette ZR1's LS9 motor and detuned for duty in the CTS-V. Fortunately, the LSA wasn't detuned too much and the '09 CTS-V should destroy its German competition, specifically the BMW M5 with its - can't believe we're saying this - relatively meager 500-hp 5.0L V10. "

..... I just peed myself a little. 3.5 seconds!?!?!?!?!?

Hahaha, that thing is so raw. I wish the exhaust was a little louder, but I guess you can't have everything. 191mph... in a production sedan? Sign me up.

The 09 with a 6 speed faced off with an SMG M5 at Monticello race club near Manhattan. BMW brought in it's race car driver, and GM had the guy who did the 7:59 ring time drive. the track is brand new, and this I believe is the first competitive race on it. The CTS-V won by half a second.. a bit disappointing, but I think if the M5 had been stick, it would have been a much larger gap.

I saw one yesterday in a parking lot. I like the car overall... I think they could have done a little more to differentiate it from the regular CTS and I don't really care for the rims. Other than that, it's my kind of car.
I was a bit surprised to see the brake rotors weren't perforated or cross drilled... it seems like most performance cars have been doing that for the last 5-10 years.

its a cadillac. i dont think i would want a cadillac with a loud exhaust. i would leave that for the brand new Chevy Silverado's a friend of mine has a 2008 model 1500 with the 5.3L. it has some get up and go and the exhaust note from factory isn't really all that bad.
