Hi all!

What do you think about this? When it happens?

Well, there sure is a lot of conflicting information about the subject. From the information I've seen (I try to stay away from the extremist documentaries that are everywhere), it seems that global warming is happening at a very slow pace, and that it is a typical cycle that has little to nothing to do with us.

I've been trying to cut back on a lot of stuff that could help the environment. I watched something on the discovery channel called 6 degrees. It showed pictures and videos of what earth would look like if it changed by just 6 degrees. I believe that it would be the end of man kind which is why we need to take action now.

Overreact much?

We have so little data about the Earth's warming and cooling cycles it's foolish to jump to conclusions.

it's all bs. Mankind contributes 1/30 the CO2 than that of Mother Nature... even less of that 1/30 is cars. CAFE regulations will kill the performance car as we know it. I hate saying that, but people are so stupid they just buy into this theory.. just like the scare in the 70s.

I don't know if it is complete bs but I think people are over reacting about it. It isn't like in 10 years the world is going to die because of it.

This is quite the difficult thing to ascertain. We know that the earth goes through cycles of hot and cold, and that it takes millions of years to reach each high point, and last millions of years during the most noticable portions of these eras. But we also know that since the Industrial Age we've contributed and accelerated the cycle rate considerably. It's not as bad as it was at the turn of the 20th century, and certainly nothing to cause IMMEDIATE alarm, but we do have to be careful of what we're doing to buy us time to prepare for the earthly cycles.

Truly, I'd hate to see the end of performance cars, considering the technological advances made in the auto industry because of performance cars. Just look at what Bugatti has accomplished with the Veyron, there is some technology there we'd love to see on everyday vehicles. Not only that, but auto racing alone is a multi-billion dollar a year industry, and that's not including the billions that we, the consumer, spend on our own cars.

Fact is, this is a matter we can't discard like yesterday's trash. We do have to make changes to our daily habit, and do things to help the environment. It's just that we have to weigh in the things that are important to us and find a way to make them work without the environmentalists screaming blue murder.

GLOBAL WARMING IS A LOAD OF CRAP!
Its funny how people like Bill Clinton for instance will fly in a Massive jet which uses ALOT of fuel to a meeting only to say that we all use way to much gas and are polluting the world...
I was listing to a radio show the other day and i wish i could have you guys listen to it he had some really really good points i wish everyone could listen to it
O and why was it 58 degrees in FL about 2 days ago if global warming is so bad? i mean it is april after all.
The world goes in cycles some time periods are way hotter and some WAY colder

Would you care to enlighten us with what the radio program said? You can find citations and radio excerpts on the internet. Just because a politician is a hypocrite doesn't mean global warming is all hype. Look at things logically and do your research, THEN make a judgment.

The argument isn't so much about if global warming is happening, but if we humans are causing or helping it.

My oppinion is that we are not. We are the equivelant to a few ants farting in some room in your house. Inspite of there being billions of us and 100's of millions of gas powered vehicles. We are all pretty insegnificantly small on this earth. How close must you zoom before you can see anything but brown and green Earth tones in Google Earth? You must zoom pretty close before you see any signs of us and our "large cities".

This is true to some extent. But, it's not all air-polution. A lot of it is what we throw into lakes, streams, and the ocean, combined with our landfills, and our various toxic mines. It's no question that we aren't the CAUSE, but we are speeding up the process that would normally happen over a much slower time frame.

Well, that's why I dislike the Global warming discussion. I feel that it distracts from real environmental problems that we greatly affect, like rivers, lakes, and streams etc.

Like I said: Man contributes 1/30 the amount of CO2 Mother Nature does... even less of that percentage is cars. The problem is, who said CO2 is bad? Humans exhale CO2, volcanoes expel CO2.. CO2 is natural. Al Gore's mansion uses 8x the amount of energy than that of the average American household. It's all a lie that people buy into to make themselves feel better. The same people who buy into these are the ones putting a ridiculous tax on gas and cars that have fair fuel economy. I'm not gonna get into politics, but John McCain proposed a lift of federal taxes on gas from may-september... that means 18 cents off a gallon. Doesn't that sound good? yes. Instead of complaining and blaming oil companies etc, he's actually doing something about it. As a final point, gas prices aren't high because of the war or any occupation whatsoever of OPEC nations. Gas prices are high because China and India have such a great demand for it, and OPEC knows it, so they charge ridiculous prices. That's not the greed of oil companies, that's the greed of Middle Eastern nations.

Nuf Said.
