Default Micro Cars Unsafe!

This was all over the news last night!

In a just released study the Insurance Industry has determined that micro cars don't hold up well in collisions with larger vehicles. "Micro cars do not fare well in collisions with other types of vehicles", yeah, like with actual cars.

We had to pay for a study to determine this? Seems the basic laws of physics pretty much proves that.

UHH who would have guessed!

Just think, your tax dollars probably paid for the study that reports the obvious!

LOL Yea you are missing what they did not tell you!

1. The test shown in the video above was designed to promote the car and try and prove that it was safe. The car you see hitting the merc in a offset crash was done at a low speed (30MPH TOTAL i do recall) that is 15MPH per vehicle. I hope that is correct, I am trying to go from memory here.

2. The head on wall hit was at high speed and as mentioned the car was reinforced like a damn roll cage in a race car.

3. The problem is the car has little to no crumple zone in a impact. What this means is when the vehicle hits a object (a wall, another car,Etc) there is nothing to absorb energy from the impact. If the vehicle does not absorb the energy the passengers in the vehicle will! This is what will kill the passengers of the car, their body will take the energy from the crash, this will result in death.

The car does hold together very good for as small as it is however the energy has to go somewhere and instead of it disapating in the destruction of the car it is going to the passengers!

Ah ok. Hey you don't have to change my mind I hate those tiny little thinks, someone in my town has one, and when I drive behind it my van towers over it. I would never get one!!!!! I'll get a ten speed as a daily driver before I get a smart.
