Default The $25,000 Question

I was reading the October issue of Car and Driver again today and wanted to pose the same question to you guys as they posted in that issue.

Which of these vehicles would you buy if you were given $25,000 for the purchase and fun was your prime motivater:

2008 Mazda MX-5
(new)

2008 Vokswagen GTI (new)

1991-94 Acura NSX

2002-06 BMW M3

2001-04 Chevrolet Corvette Z06

2004-06 Dodge Ram SRT10

1999-02 Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG

1989-94 Porsche 911

1994-98 Toyota Supra Turbo

* All used vehicles are assumed stock and in above average but typical condition for the price.

Quite a good wide variety to choose from. Would you go for one of the new cars for the warranty? The NSX for it's handling and head turning? The Z06 for it's power? The Supra for it's tunability?...

Which one would you select?

I read this article as well and asked myself the question... I would have a hard time deciding between the Z06 and the M3... I guess it would depend on the condition of the actual car.

I don't mean this as an insult at all, but could someone tell me what made the NSX so great? From what I know, it was expensive, mid engined, and not all that fast....

They are actually really slow. My brother's friend has one and it's not that impressive.

And my choice would be the Z06 or the M3

It was seen as the budget supercar, the poor man's Ferrari if you will. It looked great, it was lighter than the Ferrari 348, the suspension was well tuned, and while 270 hp isn't anything to shake a stick at nowadays, it wasn't that bad for the early 90's when a typical Porsche 911 was struggling to find 250hp from more displacement and the 348 which cost more than twice as much only had 300hp and weighed about the same. Plus Honda had a semi-successful racing program with the NSX, and it's a Honda so it'll run year around with little problem or down time due to repairs. It's not uncommon to find NSXs with over 100k miles, and Comptec makes a supercharger kit for this car that'll help you pull several more ponies from that 3.0 VTEC.
