Default Would you consider any New cars to be Muscle cars?

Yo. I was wondering if anyone would consider the remakes of classic muscle cars to be this generations muscle car? For a lot of people the 60s and 70s produce the world of muscle (which I'm thankful for). But now with the remakes coming out, would anyone consider them our Muscle Cars? if not, what would you consider them?

I would call the new Challenger a muscle car but that's probably the only one of the remakes I would consider. The new Charger was a bit of a disappointment, it had a nice looking front end but the rear looked like every other Dodge out there and it didn't quite have the performance one would want. The GTO was too short lived and didn't look much like the GTO of old. If they remade the Judge than it would be a different story, but frankly the GTO didn't really deserve to be called a GTO and I would have preferred to see it as a Monaro.
Once they release the Camaro we'll see how that does, but right now I like the Camaro quite a bit. I'd even take an RS model, or a Z28 if they were to bring that back.

Exactly why I would be fine with a base model Camaro. Can't complain with 300hp from a base.

Yes.

Many new muscle cars have as much or more net horsepower than the top 60's-70's musclecars had gross horsepower. That said, it was still easier in the 60's-70's to get more horsepower. A typical 60's GTO would only turn around mid 14's in the 1/4 mile when bone stock, but it took very little modding to get them into the 12's.

I think the new Camaro, Challenger and even the Mustang are modern day muscle cars. I agree with you guys that 300hp is very impressive for the base Camaro, and with the way gas prices are, no doubt a lot of people will end up choosing that over the V8... if it were me I'd really have to consider it but I think if I were buying a Camaro I'd want a V8!

Yes. Either way you cant go wrong with the new Camaro. lol. I also agree with the messages about the new challenger. I've seen a black one this morning, then a red one when i was heading home. Its not that bad in the front, but after that its not that impressive.

I think they are to be considered musclecars. I just hate tha fact that the 425 hp srt8 challenger only runs 13's..

I agree. It's just too heavy... I still love it though.

The GT500 for me is the modern muscle car.. and like above, the new Camaro. The challenger is neat, but mopar is quickly dying.

Default no

I dont think any of them have anywhere near the muscly appearance and feel as they did in the 60s and 70s
the main reason for this is the new safety regulations and stuff, which really bulks them up, and in some of the new remakes, makes them look more fat than muscle
some, not all
challenger is my acception

Yes, I think they can be called muscle cars. Cars have evolved over the decades so it isn't going to just be brute force like the muscle cars of old. The new ones have to have finesse as well as the power while keeping safty regulations in mind. I personally would be sad to see the same old styling from the 60's on our 2009 modles! I think they have done a rather good job of transforming the old style into a modern one.

That said, I'd love a camaro!!
