Default Hybrids

So I think it used to be a competition to see who would last longest without making an SUV, and I think Audi or Porsche won that one (Not to sure, would love to be corrected though) I'm thinking it's now a race to see who would last longest without making a hybrid. Just read the post on Dodge making a Hybrid. So that makes GM, Toyota, Honda, and Dodge have now made a hybrid. Anyone know who else has made a Hybrid? And to be honest, I hate hybrids... slower then death those things.

i think ferrari will be the last to make a hybrid haha... but honestly... out of the more common cars, probably mitsubishi would be the lsat ones to make a hybrid...

and Ford has also made a hybrid... jsut pointing that out cuz you left it off your list... the fird excape hybrid is actually a TERRIBLE little SUV... horrible performance and theres almost NO MPG difference unless your on the highway on a long roadtrip or soemthing...

Yeah... hybrids are lame.... Not to mention you have to hate yourself to drive one.

You can add BMW, Mercedes, Lexus (have an RX 400h at my shop right now), and GM to the list of those who have a Hybrid. I think you might count Volkswagen out on this one: their TDI cars are far better (cost-effectiveness and eco-friendliness), so they have no reason to make a hybrid. I think Mitsubishi is more likely to make a hybrid than you think. The Outlander and even the Lancer are likely candidates. I'm thinking Subaru or Pontiac to be less likely to build one.

I've actually read somewhere that Pontiac is planing on releasing a hybrid version of the Aztek and Subaru is in the concept phase of hybrid vehicl production. One of the Subaru hybrid concepts is the B5-TPH which is a crossover. Another Subaru hybrid concept is the R1e, which basically looks like a Toyota Vitz so yeah that one is a kei/micro car

Whowuddathunkit? Whatever Subaru or Pontiac come up with there is one certainty: it's gonna be UGLY!

The Aztek is dead.. they're not gonna bring it back. I think Pontiac would do well with a G6 hybrid. The rest of their cars are pretty fuel efficient to begin with, except the G8. Whoever buys a G8 won't be interested in "saving" the environment.

if they ressurected the Aztek... I think that would be the final nail in GM's coffin.

I'm not really a hybrid kind of guy... the main thing that would bother me about them is the constant starting and stopping of the gas engine... I can't imagine thats very good for it, not to mention the weird feeling when you're driving and the lag.

There's actually no lag. I've driven several different hybrids, and find them all to be quite responsive. The worst was the Prius, but those things are gutless to begin with. But even then it wasn't as bad as people think. The Lexus RX400h and Toyota Camry hybrids are actually pretty good, performance-wise.

I read somewhere about the Subaru hybrid, but they've already come out with the desiel, and it gets great MPG and is a PZEV, I think. I don't know. They have one of the cleanest factories in the world, so the chances of them putting the hybrid into production are really high. And I'm talking about in the US market, I'm sure the R1 is already selling like crazy in Japan.

I've driven the RX400h, and it was ok... I just hate the fact that you feel like.. I don't know.. a sucker? They have power, there's no question, but it's just untraditional.. the whole experience is for people who love Al Gore and hate driving.

If I was given a Prius... I'd drive it. This $4/gallon gas hurts. I could use some relief. I'd have to put some smartass anti-tree hugger bumper stickers on it though... so, noone would mistaken me for one.

If I were given a Yugo for free, I'd drive it. Hypermile it, I pulled 30mpg out of my Forester just by concentrating on your driving. And a friend of mine got 20 out of his truck with a 454 in it. But he said the concentration was so exhausting, he wouldn't do it again.
