Lamborghini LM00X
Lamborghini will be building a SUV based on the same platform as it’s parent Audi’s Audi Q5.
The SUV is currently known as the LM00X. It will feature two choices of engines - a supercharged 400hp 4.2 V8 and a supercharged 500hp 5.0 V10. It’s expected that the Lamborghini SUV will debut in 2008, while the Audi Q5 it’s based on will be released in 2007.
Here's my question.... Why would Lamborghini drop to this level? You don't see Ferrari building an SUV just because they can and because it would bring in extra money..
and how did that design come out of designs like this?

haha, I agree with you. At this point, Lamborghini resurrecting their SUV on an Audi platform is a little impure. However, the picture with the jet and the Reinvention is awesome.

I think the design of the LM00X looks quite good, though it definately reeks of Q5. For sure a far cry from the original LM002, though I like this design much more, not as brick like. Hopefully it will actually work offroad.

That thing is UGLY as SIN! OH GOD!! Why make a SUV during the US "gas crisis"?! I mean people are leaning towards small cars, SUVs and Trucks are hitting the back burner.
Lambo should remember where its roots are and not make this hidious concept car. It should stay a concept...They are a super car manufacturer, not an "every day car" maker. I dunno, I don't like this.

Gah, that thing is awful. I thought it was amazing that they used to be one of the car manufactures that hasn't conformed and made a damn SUV. And the Reventon is just epic. How can the same design team come up with something like that? Did they have guns to their heads? I think so... it looks like all they had to use was a ruler.
What the hell is up with those mirrors?

Lambo has made several SUVs, the majority were concepts like above and the Gran Torro. Back in 84, Lambo released the LM002, which looks like a Hummer H1 with a V12

Yes. But they made those when they weren't as highly regarded as one of the worlds supercar manufactures. And they made the LM002 for the US, but we had Hummer, so we shut them down. I don't see why.

I have a hypothesis, maybe it was more expensive than the Hummer, given the fact that the heart of this ugly beast was a V12 pulling somewhere around 420 hp or so. If memory serves me right the H1 only had a diesel V8

I'm sure the guys in the military thought this one through though. It's easy, V12=more moving parts. More moving parts=more things to go wrong. A TDV8 could pull just as much power if it wanted to, but still be reliable. That, and I think there was a sense of pride and nationalism to it.

Where is this coming from? I was talking about why the Hummer outdid the LM002 in the American consumer arena and your talking about why the US military chose the Hummer. There is more to it than that, the Hummer was bigger, had a better off road capability and the fact that the Hummer can cross like 3 or 4 feet of water or something like that. If you look at the LM002, all the vents and such would flood the engine compartment and having an open bed like that can also flood that. The LM002 doesn't look like a serious business/nitty-gritty SUV, it looks more like a commuter/daily driver/get you through winter and thats all the action I can get-type vehicle.
