It may not be as fast or as powerful as the Gallardo, but it is nearly half the price and only 20mph slower at top speed. On top of that I really like the look of the R8, usually for the same reason that others tend to hate it. The front is mean, the side blades are a good touch. The tail looks like someone smacked it with a board but no matter. The standard features list contains many items that most performance cars have as options at best. The V8 doesn't sound as beautiful as a V10, but Audi is apparently working to add a V10 and their TDiV12 powerplants to the R8.

who the **** are you? the Gallardo has been around for a while dumbass and therefore, it is not as original as it once was when it was first introduced.

r8 hands down. i rlly like the r8 v12 tdi le mans. the gallardo is pretty sweet, but i've gotta go w/ the r8.

I'm gonna go with the R8 on this one; it's "unique". In fact, the only car in the world that looks like it happens to be an Audi: the LeMans Quattro (which shares its platform with the R8). The Gallardo is a cool car no doubt, but it looks like a miniature Murcielago, which has been around since 2000 or something, so it's not exactly "new", nor is it "unique".
