Default Ultimate Track and Street Car

We all want one... you know.. the car that looks fast, and has the power and grace to back it up on some of the world's best tracks. A good example would be a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, or a Dodge Viper ACR. What's your favorite of all time? And, if you would like, feel free to post pictures of it!

I still have a soft-spot for the 996 Gen. Porsche 911 GT2. Someone on my street got one when it was brand new, and I detailed it a couple times for him... driving it back to his house was quite a thrill when I was 16.

Wow. I would get a thrill from just sitting in that thing. I have to have 2 favorites here :P Of course, the 2000 Mustang Cobra R. I also lust for that 911 (997) GT3 RS.

True, but it's not really a hardcore track car!

I know the numbers... I think every enthusiast knows it's wicked fast... but does that make it a specialty track car? I'd say no. There's no track package or anything of that sort to speak of, and it's truly an exotic supercar. The car I'm looking for is for track and on road use. You know, a specialty car. A Viper ACR type of thing... a Honda S2000 CR.. you get the idea.

On a very nice day I'd definately take an Ariel Atom, any day at all I would have the Honda S2000CR.

I'm suprised you know of the Ariel Atom, very few people are aware of it's existence. The Wrightspeed X1 is basically an Atom with an electric engine, and it outran a Lamborghini Gallardo, Ferrari 360 Modena, Porsche Carrera GT, and a NASCAR circle track car.

Even I know of the Ariel Atom though that is due to Mesarius. If you've watched Top Gear though you have seen it! Crazy little car that looks more like a go-kart than a car.

Just a little tid-bit of info for you die-hard exotic supercar fans: the majority of them handle like you're driving on ice. Especially Koenigsegg's various models. They aren't designed for the track, but for show, and for top speed challenges. Only the Enzo (FXX included, and never raced professionally), McLaren (which isn't a great track car either, since it never won anything significant), and Saleen S7 (which struggled the first couple of years) were designed as track cars first.

My personal favorite weekend racer is the Motorsport Elise

These things ROCK the tracks, and they beat pretty much everything, including Vipers and Corvettes.

The Noble/Rossion cars are pretty good track cars as well.
