Default Naming your Auto.

Does anyone here give names to their cars? For whatever reason I've been naming my cars ever since I was 16, usually just names that come to mind when I drive them. For example, my first car was a 1995 Plymouth Voyager that I nicknamed "The Loser Cruiser" because me and my loser friends would cruise around it our soccer-mom minivan all over town. My Topaz is "Ghettoblaster" because it is very ghetto and when I bought it the car was lacking an exhaust. The Talon is simply "the Talon" for un-originality.

I never have given any of mine a name. I helped name a few cars a highschool buddy of mine had though. He was always getting a new tore up beater car. There's just something about cheap beater cars. They just seem to have more personality. Some of them looked so bad we were cheering and clapping everytime they started. You had to respect how long they've survived considering all that they've been through. I think we had more fun in all his $200 beaters than we ever did in my newer sports cars.

Hmm, well my first car that I actually owned I named. My 1990 Chevy Cavalier was so affectionately named "Sh*t Bucket"

The Stratus doesn't have a real name though. I've only know her for about half a year so it isn't fair to put a name on her yet.

You're very right on this! Though usually the names we come up with for the junkers aren't so nice! But they definitely have a lot more personality than new cars. They come with a lot of their own personal quirks.

This is part of the reason why I opted for a first gen DSM instead of a newer car, especially when the motor crapped out a month ago. I was shopping around at all of the dealers in the area, checked out some 4G eclipses, some stangs, test drove a few cars, but I opted to fix up the one I have instead. Not because it'd be cheaper but because I knew the car top to bottom, knew what it needed, knew the personality, I just knew the car and it's personality. Something can certainly be said about well used cars, especially once you get to know them. This is also part of the reason why I haven't thought of a better name for it, it is THE Talon, not just a talon, but THE Talon.

Naming cars could be fun, the right name can strike fear into your rivals

I name cars after girl names...sort like they did on Gone in 60 Seconds...
Like my '87 Mercedes is named Sasha, just cause that's the name I thought of when I seen it...

Hahaha, there are a couple good ones for mine that a few friends gave me. "Silver Bullet" is kinda the standard, but then there's "Thunderhorse" and when it's full throttle, it's "heavy metal thunder."

haha, that is a great idea, except I always think of that one movie where the soldiers are forced to name their rifles after girls (I can't remember which one)! The name has actually grown on me, and I wouldn't name my car this, but I would name my rifle "stephanie". Haha, ah yes.

Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket staring Gunnery Sergeant R. Lee Ermey as Gunnery Sergeant Hartman, the senior drill instructor who was killed by a crazy, fat redneck in the bathroom. Total classic

Something about you guys scares me sometimes...I don't think an army Drill Instructor killed by a crazed redneck while on the shitter is a "classic"...but hell, I've never seen the movie, what the hell do I know lol
and yeah...naming Male things after girls is great fun, because, who the hell want's to say "This beaut right here is Kevin...took me 10 years to restore this Stingray...but, ol' Kev ain't never quit on me" (just kind of SCREAMS Broke-Back-Garage)
