Default 94 Thunderbird SC

im looking at a couple Thunderbirds. this one caught my eye.. its the 94 3.8L supercharged motor. it says its got 68k miles but i drove it yesterday and its definitely got more miles on it or its been wrecked.. im not sure. the engine was in good shape and picks up nice and smooth. all the car needed is new tires.

what do you think of reliability? i know supercharged isnt great for the motor. im afraid i might loose my ass on this car. here it is take a look.
Thanks,

heres the link if this damn thing doesnt work. im not good with this forum ****..

I wouldn't buy it myself. I'm judging by the rims and the fact that it is as powerful as it is it has probably been thrashed quite a bit. I've also heard from a couple of people that have owned some T-birds that the head gaskets go out somewhat easily on those. Plus like you said it drove like it had been wrecked, he could have rolled back the Odometer. Something seems a bit sketchy, but if you do really want it I'd carfax it first.

It doesn't look too bad. I'd say it's a judgement call. Supercharging a car isn't gonna kill the engine unless it's running 15psi or more (+/-5psi). On a relative scale, 68,000 miles isn't much, and it looks pretty neat too. It's all on you. If you're happy with the one you have, don't chance it. If you want more power, go for it.

well the 3.8 in the ford is really scrauny compared to the GM 3800 but they are ok motors. I have heard that the head gaskets are a common problem. I really wouldnt mind one. I would just want one with a 5 speed though. Yes they came with 5 speeds.

94 wasnt the best year for the ford 3.8 v6 wasnt till 96 is when they got it down although it only had 150hp stock they had a really good oiling system in it, some say they will out last the 99-04 gen 3.8l. the 3800 was a good motor unfortunatley i dont trust the cars they come in except maybe the monte carlo z34.

thanks for your help. im probably passing this one up unless the owner will lower his price significantly
