Default Ford Taurus

I know most people have a preferred make and model of the automobile that they like most. For me its always been the Ford Taurus. My first car was a Ford Taurus and I just upgrade every couple of years. To me they are a sensible choice. They are nice looking but also very efficient. They are good on gas, they are spacious , speed isnt a problem and they are affordable. Anyone else drive a Taurus?

My sister owns a taurus and she finds it very reliable. And since it is a ford all upgrades and repairs are very cheap.

My parents actually own one and I was very impressed with it... the ride quality is very smooth!

Certainly not an exciting car. I was given one as a rental once (prolly around 2001) and it hardly got my blood pumping, but I must admit it was surprisingly spacious, especially the trunk. I actually freaked out a lil bit about the trunk space. It was like another dimesion in there. The Sopranos should ditch those Mercedes and Lincolns and get them a Taurus lol

I was in the auto repair business for many years and the Taurus was among the highest rated cars to be in our shop. They seem to have a 60,000 mile breaking point and then it is all down hill from there. We loved to see them come in the shop because they always needed repair for something.

I am glad you have had luck with them but they are so cheap because that is how they are made. Many fleet services used them because tehy are so cheap and they would trade them every couple of years. If you want a car taht will last longer, you need to look elsewhere.

Your typical Taurus may not be exciting, but the SHO sure as hell wasn't bad. My grandparents have owned at least five Mercury Sables, which I guess goes to show that they're pretty decent if they keep on buying them and buying them. I've only ever driven a couple and personally don't prefer them, I'm more after performance than space, but they are one hell of a good family car. I thought it was hilarious for that year or two when the Taurus was renamed the Five Hundred, nobody bought them even though they were still Taurus', Ford had to change the name back to the Taurus for people to buy them.

May that be a lesson to auto manufacturers, do not change the name of your iconic cars if you wish to sell any of them.

I wanna see the resurrection of the SHO with a 6 speed manual. The current Taurus is gigantic, but if the y could lighten it up and drop a solid power-plant in there, you could have a cool car.
