I'm actually a little surprised that car is only making 550hp, it seems like it should make more than that.

What do you mean only 550hp? If you knew anything about fords, you would know that a 302 stroked 347 with just a mean cam, higher compression, heads, and a bigger carb making 550hp is impressive.

550hp is a lot... that's enough to send cars into sub-4 second 0-60mph times.

Because 550 is a HUGE number. Let's just sit and think for a second... how many auto manufacturers have gotten that out of a production car? Not many... and the fact that this is done without a supercharger is even more impressive. It's not mind-blowing, but it definitely deserves some credit.
