I'm not going anywhere in life apparently so that's all I can do. And do the math: he's 16 and he has a 2000 Mustang GT and can buy aftermarket performance parts for it, his parents have a Cadillac, and he goes to a private high school

I never thought I'd see a Mustang for $80k. It doesn't really look all that different from regular Mustangs.

I thought I'd chime in on this one, considering my history.

Despite my family being very low income... I had a 2 year old Trans Am when I was 16. I started saving every penny when I was 14 working a minimum wage job ($3.35/hr at the time). During the summers I would work 50-60 hrs a week. Now that's a little extreme, but I was obsessed with Trans Ams at the time and the math worked out, so I did it. Of course though, all my high school gearhead buddies claimed that my mother bought it. They didn't know her very well if they thought she could afford to buy me a 2 year old Trans Am while she drove a $500 beater. It would have been nice if she did. I would have much preferred to play with my friends then to flip burgers all day every day, but then again it taught me how to work hard for my goals.

A 2000 Mustang GT books at around $6000, add on the retail value of his aftermarket mods and you have another $2000 tops from what I can tell. His parents easily could have bought it for him, or since he's 16 he very well could have bought it himself if he has a job. It could have also been a loaner from his parents or something if they already owned it, a car like that isn't too expensive for most middle class families. Hard work can go far if you apply yourself.

I worked hard for Goodyear just so they can fire me and not pay me the $576 owed to me from the 2 weeks and 1 day, they'd rather have a bum and a half-assed worker than a hard worker like me. My Grandmother decided to get involved and told my ex-boss if I didn't get the money tomorrow she was gonna call the state labor board, attourney general, and an investigative reporter. Asshole service manager also insulted me saying he doubts I know very much about cars

Your grandmother..... your kidding right? Wait, now, who is 16??? Listen bro, I've done it all from body work to paint prep even worked as a painter for a little while. Did oil changes, alignment, even led to motor swaps and changing the frame on a 2002 lexus LX470. I'm not trying to brag or anything but in all my time working in shops, I have yet to see a good mechanic get fired and even if he did, the manager wouldn't burn a bridge. But from the sound of your attitude, I dont really wonder why they sent you packin...... You need a role model!

As I'm sure everyone here has experienced, bad things happen to all of us. I'm not going to complain about my problems on here, I hardly feel it's appropriate, and frankly, I doubt anyone would care.
You lost your job. It sucks, but it happens to everyone at some point. But when you fall off a horse... you gotta get back on.
There is really no need to constantly attack Apollo, for whatever reason you may have. I'm sure I speak for most people on this site when I say that it is annoying to open up nearly any forum and watch the two of you going at it.
In my experience, attitude is everything. If you're constantly negative, and believe that you aren't going to go anywhere in life, guess what? You won't.

I kissed ass at that shop and it got me nowhere, probably because I was too ghetto. I never asked my grandmother to get involved either, she did it without my knowledge. There arnt any good role-models in my area there either criminals, victims, and push overs

Now that is an encouraging story! You have a good work ethic, better than most people. Too bad I didn't save all my pennies when I was flipping burgers and get a new car too :P

I was on topic until I read Gear's little heart touching story.

I just want to know why anyone would spend 80 grand on a Mustang when that kind of money could get them a Vette or Viper?

I would just like to apologize for everything, whether it's my fault or not. I'm sorry it turned out that my age, or car for that matter is a problem. I have had a serious passion for cars ever since I was in the 5th grade, and I haven't looked back. This will sound stupid, but I think there is too much hate, jealousy, envy, and ignorance in this world. No person's character or way of life on this earth deserves to be judged by income or education. I think it's right to let it be and hone in on the real issue:

is the GT500KR the ultimate muscle car? Yes, the price is up with the Viper and Vette, but quite frankly, I might consider those cars in a different class (supercar)
