I'll take the bait
If they are supercars, then what else do you have thats a muscle car?
The Stang GT just doesnt have enough for me to consider it a muscle car. Fast, sure. Muscle, no.

Ok, I have to defend my own car now. It's evident you've never driven one (or at least one with a stick). It really has a helluva lot of power and torque, and that's evident on power turns and when you drop the clutch. The Mustang is a muscle car by definition: huge engine shoved into a small body... the weight distribution agrees
Other cars that I would consider muscle cars are the Camaro, Firebird, Challenger, Charger RT/SRT, Impala SS.. you know.. V8, American, small-midsize.

Personally, I agree with Apollo. The Mustang is a modern era muscle car.... the GT is at least.

260 HP @ 5,250 rpm; 302 ft lb , 410 Nm @ 4,000 rpm
Sorry, to me it doesnt scream "muscle car." Like I said, fast, but not muscle car.
Hey, its my opinion

yeah well, I guess that's cool.. if you're all into 4 cylinders.. you know.. I mean, you're missing the other half of your engine.

Well, in reality 260HP and 302ft lb of torque are the sort of figures you'd expect from a muscle car from the 70's, but for a modern V8 it isn't much. BMW and Mercedes V8s are pushing far more than that. I think it's about time Ford updated its line of V8s, maybe integrating overhead cams with variable timing and cylinder deactivation. They can pull more horsepower from the same sort of displacement with fewer restrictions and better economy.

The idea is to keep the cost down... so people can afford it. The 03 Cobra V8 was 390hp... Quite honestly, those German V8s are cool, but I prefer the LS line to any of them. That new CTS-V will rock the V10 M5 and the V8 M3. Ford is giving the 2010 Mustang 400hp, as mentioned before, but clearly neither of you have actually driven or raced a fairly new V8 Mustang. I could put $1000 into it, and come out with 350hp. It's a versatile engine.

yeah, I can't say that I have driven a Mustang at all. I like to stick with inline engines for maintainance ease, though I am certainly willing to try a V8, 10, or 12 out. I'm not a fan of pushrod motors but I won't rule them out completely, they have their high points.

How is this for intelligent: obviously you never had the experience of driving or racing a fairly new German car. American cars tend to focus too much on raw power and not enough on handling and cornering as compared to German cars which tend to focus on both.

I've driven an E46 M3. The video is on youtube. I'm in school, and youtube is blocked, but I'll put up the link later if you want. I know what a great car is. I have one and access to another in my garage and I've driven plently more.

Honestly I'm shocked you think that's arrogance. You just claimed I have never driven an expensive German car. I have, and I have the evidence. From there, you can't deny that the Mustang is an icon, and the CTS-V is quite an honorable mention. The Mustang isn't meant to handle well, but that doesn't make it a bad car.. in fact that makes it more fun to drive. The Cadillac is wicked fun to drive, and after driving that and an M3, I prefer the Cadillac. It has more pull and torque, and maybe the steering isn't as sensitive, but it handles well enough to run solid times on circuits and beat up Audi S4s and S6s.
