Default Chasta: The Rebuild

Ok back in december I was that lucky Audi owner who had a blown engine .....

Around late April I was finally able to get that damn engine out and I found some stuff

Needless to say my block was permanently modified

So I got a newish one and a bunch of parts

Unfortunately, the guy I bought the block off of did not send the oil pan. I'm waiting on that and a brand newish turbo. Check out how she sits right now

Just so everyone knows how much crap I have in the car right now, I have non-sport OEM suspension in the rear and sport in the front

For shits and giggles I took a reference pic of the ko3 inlet

I decided the valve cover needed to be painted all pretty

Nice.

What kind of performance parts did you get? Is she going to be making more power over stock?

...and i dig the dark wheels. It gives it a menacing look.

Thanks! Only performance parts are a brand- newish stock turbo (since mine was completely wrecked) and a stage 1 clutch and a single mass flywheel. So yes, over when I bought it stock, it will make some more ponies I really wish I could afford to upgrade but Audis are freakin expensive!! Wheels are oem b5 s4 rims, and I love them OEM+ FTW

Upadate!! For me, this is a huge step! I finally have all the parts I need, and I started putting that ish together.
Windage Tray
Engine Build Day One
This is me -Doing Werk!
Finished up for the day

So, what I have done, got the oil pump and pickup, windage tray, oil pan, and clutch and flywheel bolted up. Again, most have seen or have done this before, but this is my first complete engine build. Also, the count for how long my car has been broke down is 7 months and 4 days

And yes, I do have a k03 exhaust housing holding up my engine

Nice! thanks for sharing. Looks like you've put a lot of effort into it. It's a nice car though. How much did the engine cost you?

Oh and I like the "I love Vag" on the fender pic!

Hey hey now, it's V.A.G. (Volkswagen Auto Group) not vag. Although it is a VAGINA (Volkswagen Auto Group In North America) Hahahaha I made that one up all by myself. Uh, price.... I'm probably around 1300-1400 bucks for everything. So that brings my total cost plus the purchase price up to about 5k

Guess I have some catching up to do huh?

August 1st Update
So I have been diligently working on the engine, getting everything all together, and my goal was to get it running last wednesday. But of course nothing goes as planned, sooo BAM! I'm torquing the camshaft gear bolt and it snaps in half, half the bolt is still in the camshaft. After that I lost it. I basically let the car sit for a couple days while I tried not to take a bat to the car. This weekend I decided that the absolute worst that I'd have to do is replace the exhaust cam, so I could put everything less the timing belt on.

Snub mount, that bar is painted blue because the original coating had pealed off and I didn't want it to rust
Previous owner somehow broke the washer fluid tank, so I patched that up
So now all I have left is the turbo, belts, camshaft problem, fluids, and start her up for the first time since mid december

August 22nd Update
Down time count: 8 months 3 days

While waiting for parts I had to find stuff to fix, and I got a little bored.
Found my coolant flange was broken so I bought a new one from ECS Tuning. It was 6 bucks!!

September 17 Update
Graduated WyoTech today, Perfect Attendance for a whole year baby!!!

Just making sure my car won't break down on me as I move back to Chicago

Done-skis!

Took that pic today after a long cleaning session
Then I found out that the PO was in an accident so the bumper side clips on the driver side were bent in. Spacers are not only for wheels -

Indy fogs FTW!

Also fixed my front bumper apperance wise []

haha, as good as it gets, mate! you did a lot of great work... good job. I've been around more and more Audis as of late, a close relative just added a 2011 S4 to the stable. I'm becoming very fond of that brand. I mean, as far as I'm concerned I'm hardcore true blue, but if I had a second choice, Audi is right up there.

I love the B5 S4 rims btw.. great look! Did your old turbo have any shaft play or anything?

Thanks man, B8 s4 is sick, but I still love the old B5 S4's best. And so much shaft play you could pull the wheel out, literally. Haha the shaft was broken in half, probably from shrapnel.

This place is so dead I'll have to start some threads about all the crap I do to my car.
