i've heard that there wont be a Dodge Viper model sold after 2009 this completely sucks... the Dodge Viper ACR becomes the fastest track car in the world (fastest lap at nurburgring EVER) and it gets cancelled... its finally CHEAPRER than the top-end corvette (ZR1) and is actually a better track car at the same time and it here isnt gunna be anymore... the Dodge Viper has been my all-time favorite car since 1999 when i really got into cars and ever since my dream is to one day at least even DRIVE one and that might not be possible to do unless i find a cheap old used one... this is extremely distressing

It is really unfortunate that this happened, and quite frankly, not to get political, but you can blame a green/Democrat controlled Congress on this one. CAFE regulations are the reason for this, and that issue is entirely political in itself. Barack Obama wants to raise the fleet average mpg, which will further hurt every car maker, especially domestic ones, and also prevent the production of high horsepower cars like the Viper, ZR1, and GT500KR. Many people are saying these cars will be the last of their kind, and now is the time to snap them up.

I agree. Fast cars are what get men excited and make car enthusiasts. (dont know if i spelt that right. lol) Young men (and sometimes women) dream of owning that car that can hit speeds that others can't. Now with all this gay talk of better gas milage, the cars i've grown to love and hope to see in the future, might not ever happen. I just hope we can stay clear of that path. Make gas friendly cars, but keep the production of good, fast, awesome looking cars alive.

Yeah I saw this on CNN a few days ago. As of then they had not sealed a deal on the sale of the Viper, just had put it out on the market and were taking offers. Chrysler is in a really bad position right now. They're losing constantly. I don't think the sale of the Viper has that much to do with the gas milage it gets. Cars in the category are not known for great gas milage, but for their performance.

I think it'd be awesome if Hennessy bought the Viper brand. Then all Vipers would be Hennessy Vipers!

I do agree that we are all being forced to suffer the potential losses. These cars have absolutely nothing to credit against them in the "green" category except mileage. This smog and greenhouse effect BS is all brought on ourselves by allowing stupid people to own and operate vehicles. You can tune an engine out of the 70's or earlier to run much cleaner than the cars being put out today by the factories. All at the carburetor. Yes, I know that the cars today are all fuel injected. Explain to me why we can tune a primitive carbureted engine to run clean, but with all our vast technology, we can't seem to tune a fuelie the same way. Two problems I see. 1) Auto makers are deliberetly designing cars to run like crap and fall apart so we spend more money on their products. 2)Most people are too stupid to understand that a car is a machine that you must up keep, not something you have a right to own and not take care of. Personally, I think we should have kept everything steam powered. The damn tree-huggers would stay off our backs and stupid people couldn't own and/or operate them. They would be inteligent to watch their boiler temp and BOOM!, no more car. Maybe we'd get lucky and natural selection would take the person too (seriously, how many people do you know that look over their vehicles on a regular basis, or even look at their gauges occasionally while driving?). With fewer cars on the road, the roads wouldn't wear out so fast and we would all be paying less in taxes for their up keep. I know it would never work this way. Not enough intelligent people in the world to make it happen, but it's nice to think about.

P.S. For the "everything can be traced back to the hippies" comment, they didn't pioneer the peace, love and happiness idea. They just ran with it. Before the term "hippie" was coined, there was another term used....spineless coward.
