Default My Hatch Project (lots of pics)

ok i traded that 92 laser i had because i wanted another honda and a kid in cedar rapids traded me straight up

so i got the car and i know it needs a lot work but most of it i can do my self and its a honda so parts are mostly cheap and i can find them easy

so when i got the car the kid i traded the car with (kody)wanted the struts from the hatch that he was gonna trade me his struts from his other civic
it really wasnt a big deal both sets were crap and i was planning on replacing them anyway but during all this the lower control arms on the hatch didnt want to come apart so i have to replace them

anyway is a list of things i need
lol this might be kinda long

front bumper cover
front bumper its self
front fenders
side skirts
rear bumper
rear quarters
headlights
fog lights
windshield
paint
intake
exhaust
struts
control arms
gauge cluster
cd player
e-brake cables

and i think thats almost all of it

but here is some pics

... Holy hell.

reattach the body to the frame, then swap in a GSR motor and you can have a fun little machine.

OMG! I have to agree that it may not be worth saving. Before I would spend any money on it I would look at how rusty it is on the under side.

If you really want to fix it up and not spend 4X what it will be worth when you are finished I would look at trying to find another one that is missing a drivetrain but has less rust. This way you could take 2 and make 1 good car.

As for spending 5K on it, I am not sure I would spend 5K on it cash let alone having to borrow the money and pay interest on it. You could use the 5K and buy a really really decent car that is complete.

I am not trying to put down the car but I am really thinking it IS worse than it looks after you get it stripped down.

Hell for 5K I could by 2 more Corvettes!

ok well the fenders are about $50 each the rears are $80 for both the bumber covers are about $80 each and really thats reallly the big parts and i am gonna do little by little and as for the rust, the underside is fine its just the side rails that have bad spots in them
and i think part of it is the stock side skirts were held in by wood screws

and im gonna do most of the stuff myself

and this is a "project" car

it will take a long time to get it perfect but i dont care

ok well i got kinda motivated and i ripped out the carpet out of the hatch

and its not as bad as i thought it would be the a little surface rust in the back corners

but its really dirty but i think i am gonna just coat it with that truck bed liner stuff

and call it good

and also i have started going a wire tuck on the engine....

im not gonna go extreme with it but clean it up a bit

any i deas? anyone?

i took off the rear bumber cover

and it was just screwed in

and i think the car was hit in the rear because the rear bumber is broke...

well im moving really slow on this but if you keep checking in

there will more to come

You're really going to have to work with that underbody. I honestly wouldn't put that much work into something as rusted as this.. especially in those difficult spots.
