Browsing around tonight, I found the photos of some group's GORGEOUS creation... a Prius convertible!

Man I bet you could pick up all kinds of tree hugger chics in that thing.

Well then, I'm going to place my order in the morning!

... I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit...

Seriously, is there some unwritten law that all hybrids must have at least one gawdawful piece of flair if not look completely hideous as a whole? The Prius is just hideous looking, the Honda Civic hybrid and the Insight before it had just completely ugly rims, and the Toyota Camry as a whole (hybrid or not) just looks way too busy and too far ahead of its time. The only ones that look normal are the Escape and Tahoe hybrids but those are rather poor excuses for hybrids as the Tahoe still only does something like 22mpg. You'd think that if auto manufacturers actually wanted to sell hybrids they'd make at least one badarse looking one that looks powerful as all hades but runs on a hybrid powertrain.

Yea, I don't see why they can simply just create a new design around the prius's engine and it will keep their cost down and if they do it right, it will pay for itself. Better yet, a gear head could just put all the stuff in another car. Possible you can go out and find some old muscle car such as a 60's mustang and drop the stuff in it. People might not feel it's right for a muscle car, but then you can drive it around all you want and show it off and afford it!

My understanding is that it was done by a customizing shop in California that is trying to broker a deal with Toyota.

No not really. All I think about when I see a prius is, "wow, what a sucker." It really is such a rip off. That article about Hummer vs Toyota Prius said it perfectly.... I always make sure to do a high rev V8 flyby on those cars.

And Sniper, Prius does not equal "GAY". It equals "Stupid" "gullible" or "tree hugger". It has nothing to do with sexual orientation.

Have you guys ever driven one of those? Slower than death. Maybe, without a roof, it'll do naught to sixty in less time then it takes to cure cancer.
