Default Top Ten Totally Awesome Turbocharged American Cars

Jalopnik posted Top Ten Totally Awesome Turbocharged American Cars along with a short description of each.

Here's the list:

Chevrolet Corvette B2K Callaway Twin-Turbo
Buick GNX
Pontiac Firebird Turbo Trans-Am
Ford Mustang SVO
Merkur XR4Ti
Shelby GLHS Dodge Omni
Shelby CSX-VNT Dodge Shadow
Pontiac Grand Prix McLaren Turbo
Chrysler TC by Maserati
Chrysler Conquest TSi

There is also an open vote for the best.

My vote went to the GNX.

I'm surprised the Hennessey Venom 1000R isn't on there. That's pretty much the biggest monster of them all. So there you have it; my vote goes to a car that isn't even on the list! And considering the Venom is a fairly popular car. Racing Solutions has a turbo Viper that would make most supercars look quite pedestrian too.

Although their title doesn't state it. The list is of 80's cars only.

Viper debuted in '89, therefore it artificially counts! hehe

The first production model came out in '92. He was probably referring to the prototype auto show debut in '89. So, he is stretching that one 2 ways

Hey, the prototype was pretty hot when people got first wind of it. There's no question the kind of stir in the auto biz the Viper created right from the get-go. Ok, another American turbo car that would annihilate every car on that list and then some: Vector W8 TT V8. Or it's psychopath brother: W2. Nobody really knew about what these cars were about (or even that they existed then), but they were really the fastest street-legal (sort of) cars on earth.

Cool

Dude, Y'all are trippin'. I mean what about the new SSC Ultimate Aero TT with about 1200 BHP. man that would wipe the floor with any of those other cars

then again there is always the DeLorean Twin Turbo (I hid to throw DeLorean in here somewhere)

Even though it didn't state in the title... It was 80's cars only.
