Well Im far from a Mazda expert and I havent done much work on modern cars, but there isnt really much involved in getting spark to the plugs. The charge goes from alternator to the coil to the distributor through the distributor cap to the plug wires and finally into the plugs. Perhaps there is a problem with the wire to the coil?
