Default Alarm Systems and other anti-theft devices

Anyone's car can get stolen or vandalized, some are higher targets than others. As annoying as they are, car alarms are a decent first step to securing your car, however it is important to buy the right one. With so many choices out there, that can be a daunting task. Which car alarm systems would you recommend to someone in the market for the best bang-for-the-buck alarm system.

Even though they aren't the cheapest, I'm personally going Viper with a starter kill system. Their alarm systems offer a wireless remote with a liquid crystal display that alerts the owner when the alarm is going off and which sensor was tripped in case they aren't close enough to hear the alarm, but not until after I do full window tint. Not the cheapest option, but each one of my cars have been broken into at least once, and with the stuff I will have in my car at one point, it is something I really would rather not have people messing with. A buddy of mine has a Viper and has it rigged to electrify the car's body when the alarm is triggered, if a thief or burglar touches the car when it is going off they'll get a nice DC current going through them.
